Activities & Community Engagement Coordinator
Job Overview:
The Activities and Community Engagement Coordinator will be responsible for planning, coordination, and management of a variety of social and wellness activities to create supportive and empowering community environments for individuals seeking positive changes related to their substance use. The role will also involve networking, building relationships and disseminating information to regional agencies, groups and providers.

LOCATION:
The role will be based in LaSalle, IL and will require moderate travel throughout The Perfectly Flawed Service Area. This includes all or parts of LaSalle, Bureau, Putnam, Marshall, Livingston, Lee, Henry and neighboring counties. The role will also work remotely with statewide agencies and partners.
CORE RESPONSIBILITY #1:
Activity Planning, Coordination and Oversight

Recruit, manage, and coordinate a social and wellness activities committee to plan monthly, quarterly and yearly activities

Work with committee members to establish core values and guidelines promoting a positive, inclusive, and welcoming environment

Create and submit a monthly activity plan to the supervisor for approval
-
Identify and recruit team members and volunteers to assist in leading and coordinating events
-
Engage and delegate responsibilities to committee members and volunteers as needed
-
Serve as a lead chaperone for events, activities and hikes
-
Coordinate logistics for events including drivers, chaperones, and budget
-
Organize tasks such as gathering supplies, reserving spaces, and purchasing tickets
-
Coordinate office decorations with team members and volunteers for holidays and special events
-
Inventory, organize, and manage supplies and decorations for activities
-
Collaborate with PFF team members to disseminate information and coordinate scheduling
-
Work with PFF peer support and harm reduction team members to facilitate warm hand-offs for people requesting additional services and support

Coordinate sign-up sheets, meeting times, locations, and details for events
-
Create an event calendar and maintain a list of upcoming events

Attend PF sponsored community nights and co-facilitate weekly support group meetings as needed

Assist with coordinating weekly community nights and meal nights

Manage activities and schedule for the community garden

Create content for flyers and social media posts
-
Manage the quarterly budget and costs for events and activities
-
Empower and uplift individuals through engagement activities
-
Log activity and attendance in the internal data platform
-
Ensure activities are inclusive of people with disabilities and include a variety of indoor and outdoor activities

Coordinate and promote the “Perfectly Flawed Wellness Challenge” during the month of September

Coordinate winter clothing drive and occasional supply drive
-
Coordinate Overdose Awareness events and activities during month of August

Identify and collaborate with community members and partner agencies to host activities
-
Coordinate designated rides with PFF team members and volunteers during events using the PFF "Celebrate Responsibly" vehicle
CORE RESPONSIBILITY #2:
Community Outreach & Engagement

Network, build relationships and disseminate information to regional agencies, shelters, wellness groups, support groups, behavioral health facilities, first responders, including law enforcement, fire and EMS

Engage in frequent stakeholder communications, initiating and maintaining partnerships and volunteer relationships with individuals and other relevant local organizations

Engage in face-to-face relationship building

Facilitate collaborative agreements (MOU’s) with partner agencies
-
Identify guest speakers and professionals for occasional informational sessions
-
Attend non-PFF sponsored groups and networking events to inform the community about PFF activities
-
Distribute flyers and attend quarterly PFF resource network meetings
-
Set up, tear down, and attend PFF community outreach and tabling events
-
Participate in various state-wide training and networking events
-
Manage and organize outreach materials, pamphlets and flyers

Manage flier distribution and contact list

Coordinate activities with fundraising and event coordinator
SKILLS & QUALATIES:

Familiarity with project management, budgets, facilitating events and presentations.

Self-directed and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

Ability to coordinate projects and activities for groups of 10 or more people

Outgoing and passion for creating positive experiences for others

Experience or understanding of drug use, harm reduction and recovery

Empathy for and proficiency in working with people who use or have used substances, people in early recovery, and neurodiverse individuals

De-escalation skills calming tense situations or soothing individuals who are having a difficult day

Comfortable with public speaking

Willingness to share life experiences with others

Ability to share information posts on social media

Ability to drive a transport vehicle with up to 7 passengers safely
-
Ability to set up tables, tents and lift up to 50 lbs
-
Ability to navigate hiking trails
-
Ability to travel to events and parks
-
Knowledge of or willingness to learn Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Calendar).

Ability to use a shared calendar and create event invites.

Must have a valid Illinois driver’s license

Availability on some nights and weekends

This job will require moderate amounts of travel to appointments and events
